Public Batteries & Renewables
Batteries reduce costs for ratepayers by storing power during times when electricity is cheap, and providing additional power during times when electricity is expensive. And by pairing batteries with renewable energy, we can make sure the energy that powers these batteries comes from clean sources, reducing both our costs and our reliance on dirty power plants.
Lower Electric Bills
Electric utilities rake in huge profits every year, and these profits come out of our pockets. Con Edison requested a 11.4% increase this year, and in places like Rochester, the average electric bill could go up by over 25%. We need Governor Hochul to step up - she must direct the Public Service Commission to reject increases on customers’ bills.
Local Laws and Campaigns
We stand up for batteries and renewables in local communities, and fight the fearmongering and misinformation that is holding us back from building what we need. This means supporting local siting of batteries and renewable energy projects, educating our neighbors about the benefits of local projects, and fighting back against laws that would make it unnecessarily difficult to build new projects.
